Claire first discovered Salsa whilst living and working in Cuba. She was captivated by the energy, passion, music, style and most of all, by the fun the dancers were having.
Upon her return to the UK, Claire started training in Cross Body style Salsa - making the most of the expert tuition from the leading international professionals in London.
Within months Claire had started performing, and over two years she worked her way up from performing in student Salsa groups, to being a member of the Duende Professional Dance Company, choreographed and managed by Andrea Stewart.
Claire is incredibly passionate about Latin dance and there was never a doubt in her mind that she wanted to teach Salsa. She completed a teacher training qualification with Salsa Tropical Ltd in 2008 and has been teaching weekly classes, workshops, corporate events, hen parties, and private lessons for the past three years. She runs the Salsa classes for Imperial College London, and previously ran her own club night in North London with her dance partner Martin.
Claire is the founder of Salsa Evolution and is the lead teacher for all classes.
Cross Body style salsa is a linear dance form. Couples constantly change places with each other while performing turn patterns, but dance as if on an imaginary straight line.
Cuban style Salsa has a more earrthy, grounded feel. The dancers tend to move in a circular motion on the dance floor with the follower rotating around the lead.
