So, you’ve never danced Salsa before?
Firstly, if you feel nervous, anxious, concerned you’ll make a fool of yourself, or just embarrassed … then please don’t!! Learning to dance Salsa is really enjoyable, with much laughter and silliness to breakdown any fears you may have.
The classes are great fun, with very clear tuition, moving at a slow pace, and with plenty of time to practise. You’ll pick it up in no time!
What to expect: You will learn all the basic steps on your own, then opposite a partner, and then practice them dancing in a couple.
It is important to be comfortable when dancing. So just wear something you feel comfortable in, and style it up as relaxed or as glam as you wish!
Improvers have already attended several weeks of Cross Body Style Salsa lessons, and know and are comfortable with the basic steps and turns.
We will be covering all improver level moves: including copas, cross body lead with inside and outside turn combinations, wraps, titanic, crucifix, open breaks, styling with a partner, drop catches, and much more. We will also start learning footwork ‘shines’.
I would describe an intermediate level Salsa dancer to be very comfortable with all beginner and improver level moves as a minimum, and to have been attending classes and going social dancing for about six months plus. They are fully confident with their understanding of the music and timing, and are starting to bring musical interpretation into their dancing, shines, and turn patterns.
What to expect: We will be learning more complicated turn patterns, spinning, higher level footwork shines, styling, and musical interpretation.
Many thanks to Paul for showing us some Improver Level 1 and 2 moves in a lovely turn pattern.
Paul dancing some great intermediate turn patterns. Go Paul!
